You Don’t Go Into Gospel Music To Make Money – Frank Edwards

Nigerian gospel superstar Frank Edward, in a discussion with Punch Newspaper on the 12th of January 2020, stated that Gospel artists shouldn’t focus on the business angle only but spreading the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ.

In an interview with the platform, when asked his opinion on the reason why most gospel singers are not being signed as ambassadors for brands He opined that the gospel industry hinders the profitability of gospel artists.

He responded by saying: There are so many reasons. Firstly, you have to understand that the industry and ministry is not the same thing. Gospel music is a ministry, the other one is an industry, so it functions fully like that.

The gospel ministry is totally different from the secular industry even though you might say that there is a business side of it which makes it similar. But in gospel ministry, the business aspect of it is never the focus. I tell people that if you want to make money, don’t do gospel music; you would have a lot of issues.

“Gospel music means one is reaching out to people through music; the others are strictly entertainment or at least 70-80 percent entertainment. The company would rather give the opportunity to musicians who sing songs that all religions, including Christians, would dance to, either at a party or in a club.

“The companies are looking for numbers, and they would give the brand ambassadorship to someone who everybody loves their music. If the companies give it to gospel singers like me, people who don’t listen to gospel would probably not pay attention.

“Although I’m a brand ambassador, it is not everything that one must do as a gospel artist. When you are not getting endorsements, think of how many souls you music has healed– that’s your reward.”

Frank Edwards is a global force and a voice to gospel artists out there, especially in a time where Gospel music is unarguably one of the most played genres in the Nigerian music sector.

Jesus Is King Breaks Records with No 1 Spot on five charts and still Dominates the Top 10 Christian and Gospel Songs charts.

Kanye West’s album, Jesus Is King, is making history back to back on the Billboard Charts, ranking No. 1 on five charts as well as topping the Top 10 slots on both the Hot Christian Songs and Hot Gospel Songs charts.

This is Kanye’s first-ever faith-based album and he is trailblazing the all-genre Billboard 200, Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, Top Rap Albums charts, Top Christian Albums, and Top Gospel Albums.

You just name them, and West is right there as number one in the North, South, and East with the gospel, making history with his album, bringing thousands into God’s kingdom.

This is what music, not just music but the right kind, is all about.

He is the first artist ever to monopolize the entire top 10 slots on the Hot Christian Songs and Hot Gospel Songs charts.

The newly converted rapper scored the major win over gospel giants like Chris Tomlin, Jordan Smith, Casting Crowns, Mercy Me, and Lecrae, who dominated the charts in the past.

With nine studio albums to his credit, Kanye West’s Jesus Is King, also breaks his prior streaming record, giving him his biggest streaming week ever and the fifth largest overall in 2019, at 196.9 million on-demand streams, according to Billboard.

“Number one in the USA and the world right now, Jesus is King is a phenomenal work of maestro and art.

“Who’s number one? Jesus is number one!” the rapper declared as his gospel choir sang the chorus “Father I stretch my hands to you.” After the concert, 1,000 people reportedly came to faith in Jesus Christ.

West is gearing up to release a holiday album. In a recent interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music’s Beats 1, the father of four announced his upcoming Christmas record is titled Jesus Is Born.

“I believe because God has given me a gift that I pray for and so many people love,” West told Lowe, “that if I stop doing it, He might start to take all the things away.”

MAN LIKE PASTOR CHRIS – THE REAL FATHER OF URBAN GOSPEL MUSIC IN AFRICA AND BEYOND!

LIMA Awards 2019 was a huge success

And if there is one man who made it all possible through the grace and power of the Holy Spirit, it’s our very own dear man of God, Rev. Dr. Chris Oyakhilome.

No other person does it better than him when it comes to gospel music, praise and worship and supporting gospel artists with not just the platform to soar hih with their music but financial rewards too to change their lives forever.

For over 30 years, Pastor Chris has made it his duty to bring the gospel to the multitudes to the farthest most parts of the world and make God accessible to all, it’s no surprise then to see his message going musical as he is bringing music to the masses in a revolutionary way.

Do not forget that Pastor Chris is a huge music fan and lover. He recognizes the role music plays in all spectrums of life, especially for the youth, the leaders of tomorrow.

Generation Next, what better way to catch them young and fast than with the right music!

Launched in 2003 and broadcasting from Nigeria around the world, Pastor Chris pioneered the first 24-hours Christian satellite network LoveWorld, now the number one gospel television and entertainment site. The gospel music that Pastor Chris distributes to the global audience is of premium quality.

The Loveworld Music Ministry keeps churning out gospel musical giants and superstars in their numbers. Giants like Sinach, Joe Praise, Frank Edwards, Eben, Samsong, Testimony etc.

Their music has brought salvation to millions of people, building their faith, hope, and inspiration and turning their gospel playlists into love, hope, faith, and spirit-lifting musical treats.

(He says, ‘God can’t call you to show the world how to praise and worship Him and leave you poor!”

As expected, and much more even greater than anticipated, the Loveworld International Music and Arts Awards (LIMAA) 2019 was a mega success, with the auditorium filled to capacity.

Despite the electrified auditorium of gifted worshippers’ voices in the air, the carriage of the president of the ministry, Rev. Chris Oyakhilome was unmistakably supernatural. He gave attention to every performance and artist like a true father, dancing to some, standing up to others, clapping and even speaking in tongues to the performances.

When it was time for the awards, he personally presented the awards to the awardees.

Guess what, it didn’t end there, he also gave out a whooping cash price in thousands of U.S dollars.

Oh yes, cash prizes in dollars with the minimum award price being $10,000 and the maximum price amounting to $100,000.

This is why there have been no recorded cases of a gospel artist, singer or songwriter ever to leave LoveWorld to sing secular songs!

You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise, my soul will rest in Your embrace

For I am Yours and You are mine Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You’ve never failed and You won’t start now

So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise, my soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mineSpirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters

Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior

I will call upon Your name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
I am Yours and You are mine

Kirk Franklin Refuses to Turn The Other Cheek as he Boycotts TBN and Dove Awards for Cutting His Prayers for Black Victims!

The celebrated gospel artist is no stranger to Trinity Broadcasting Network’s broadcast character of editing his Dove Awards acceptance speech.

Multiple Award-winning gospel musician Kirk Franklin expresses frustration at the Gospel Music Association (GMA) and Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) by announcing his decision to boycott the Christian music Dove Awards after his acceptance speech on police violence against Black Americans were cut from the award show’s broadcast for the second time.

In an Instagram video published on Monday, he explained that after winning a Dove Award – which is considered the Grammys of the Christian music industry, and often broadcasted on TBN, known as the world’s largest Christian television network in 2016, his opinions concerning the shooting of both police officers and black men, in general, were cut out from the acceptance speech broadcasted.

“When we don’t say something, we’re saying something,” Franklin said during the speech, after which he received a standing ovation and led the assembly in prayer.

Franklin said he won’t be participating in any events affiliated with the Dove Awards, GMA or TBN “until tangible plans are put into place to protect and champion diversity.”

Although Kirk Franklin claims his boycott was a “personal decision” it hasn’t stopped other black gospel artists from standing with him in solidarity and support for the move.

Black musicians like Lecrae, also a Grammy and Dove Award-winning rapper, has registered his support as he criticized white Christians for their lack of support for black lives. In his post on Franklin’s Instagram, he said “I only came cause you came. You know I’m out.”

Next to join the movement is Jonathan McReynolds, another award-winning gospel artist also wrote, “You know the rules of church: we don’t let nobody shout by themselves. #Present.”

Other names are Marvin Sapp, Travis Malloy, PJ Morton, and Jonathan Nelson. All agreeing to join the movement in support of Kirk Franklin.

At this year 2019 Dove Awards which Franklin won, he addressed the killing of Atatiana Jefferson, a Black woman who was shot in her own home by a Texas police officer earlier this month. With her 8-year-old nephew present. That part of his acceptance speech was again edited out when the award show aired on Oct. 20 on TBN and this was the final straw that broke the back of his silence.

“Not only did they edit my speech, they edited the African American experience,” he said.

Franklin stressed that his ultimate goal is reconciliation, but also accountability.

The president of GMA Jackie Patillo has issued a statement in response, stating that “we had to significantly edit the Dove telecast to 2 hours” and that “many were disappointed because there were so many memorable moments and noteworthy portions of acceptance speeches absent.”

Patillo also apologized, saying the GMA “would like to publicly acknowledge that we are deeply apologetic for the missteps that happened relating to the editing of Kirk Franklin’s Dove Awards acceptance speech.”

She added: “We accept the responsibility of our error. Although completely unintentional, we understand it caused great harm and deeply wounded many in the African American and Gospel community.”

Patillo said TBN has made an unedited version of the ceremony available through Video On Demand and that GMA plans to announce new “initiatives” developed after meeting with Franklin and his team.

Kanye West Receives a Miracle, As God Cures His Porn Addiction!

Since turning over a new leaf and embracing Christianity, the newly turned gospel singer Kanye West can’t stop spilling his guts and testifying about his newfound faith.

On his recent discussion with Beats 1 host Zane Lowe, Kanye West made a shocking revelation as he confessed to pornography, having been introduced at a very young age of five. He claimed to have been addicted and is now free only by the grace of God.

In his words; “Like for me, Playboy was my gateway into full-on pornography addiction, my dad had a Playboy left out at age five and it’s affected almost every choice I made for the rest of my life. From age five ’till now, having to kick the habit, and it just presents itself in the open like it’s ok, and I stand up and say, ‘No it’s not ok.’”

He also said, “It’s like with God, I’ve been able to beat things that had full control of me. You know that Playboy that I found when I was 5-years-old was written all over the moment when I was at the MTV Awards with the Timberlands, the Balmain jeans — before people were rocking Balmain jeans — and the Hennessy bottle. It’s like that was such a script out of a rock star’s life.”

He disclosed that his mother’s death in 2007 sent him over the edge and led him straight to porn addiction.

He has started using his platform to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the newly released album Jesus is King is already a tool he is using to evangelize and preach to people not to participate in premarital sex.

He isn’t stopping there, he also believes that families that pray together stay together and so he wants people to always pray and fast because, in his words, “When people pray together and fast together, the power is increased.”

Some might say Kanye West is a bit radical with his faith, but the artist is unperturbed and is always warming up about taking his faith to the next level.

Watch an excerpt from the video clip below.
